JB to Singapore: live jam score and tips
Every weekday, a huge crowd crosses from Johor into Singapore for work and school, and another wave comes back in the evening. Here is the live score for both crossings into Singapore, when the rush hits, and what you need to clear immigration quickly.
When the queue into Singapore is worst
Going from JB into Singapore, there are two big jams on weekdays: the morning rush and the evening return. From our score history and what commuters report:
- Weekday mornings from about 6am to 9am are one peak, especially for cars and motorcycles. Many regulars leave very early to beat it.
- Weekday evenings from about 6pm to 9pm are just as bad, as workers, shoppers and visitors head back.
- Sunday evening and the last day of a long weekend or school holiday bring a big return crowd.
The calmest window is usually a weekday from about 10am to 4pm. See the hour-by-hour chart on best time to cross.
What you need to enter Singapore
- Your passport, valid for at least six months.
- SG Arrival Card (SGAC) for visitors who are not Singapore citizens, permanent residents or long-term pass holders. It is free and takes a few minutes on the ICA website or the MyICA app. You can submit it up to three days before you arrive.
- For Malaysian cars: a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) and an Autopass card with enough value. From 6 October 2026, the SG Arrival Card checks your VEP, so you cannot submit it if the car has no valid VEP. Your VEP needs valid motor insurance for the whole stay.
- QR code clearance: make a QR code in the MyICA app for you and your passengers. It works for cars, motorcycles, lorries and buses at Woodlands and Tuas. First-time visitors must use their passport.
Ways to beat the queue
- Leave early. On weekday mornings the queue builds fast. Ten minutes earlier can save half an hour.
- Check both crossings. If you are heading to the west of Singapore, Tuas is often quicker in the morning rush.
- Prepare your SG Arrival Card and QR code the night before. Doing it in the queue slows the whole lane.
- Read the latest reports on the live page. People at the checkpoint say where the jam is: the Johor side, the bridge, or the Singapore booths.
Common questions
What is the best time to cross from JB to Singapore?
On a weekday, after about 10am and before 4pm is usually the calmest. Avoid 6am to 9am and 6pm to 9pm on weekdays, and Sunday evenings. Late night is often quiet, but we get fewer reports then.
Do Malaysians need the SG Arrival Card?
Yes. All visitors who are not Singapore citizens, permanent residents or long-term pass holders need to submit the SG Arrival Card before arriving. It is free on the ICA website or the MyICA app.
What changed on 6 October 2026 for Malaysian cars?
The SG Arrival Card now checks whether your foreign-registered car has a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP). If it does not, you cannot submit the arrival card and will be asked to apply for the VEP first.
Is the morning jam better at Woodlands or Tuas?
Both get busy, but Woodlands carries far more traffic. If your work is in the west of Singapore, Tuas is often faster. Compare both live scores before you leave.
