The two crossings in one minute

Woodlands Causeway links Woodlands with JB city centre. It carries cars, motorcycles, lorries and buses, and most people without a car cross here by bus. It is the busier crossing and jams the most.

Tuas Second Link links Tuas with Gelang Patah in the west of Johor. There is no walking crossing, only vehicles and buses. It is a longer drive but often faster at peak times.

The RTS Link train between Woodlands North and Bukit Chagar is due to open in February 2027.

Before you go

  • Check the live score for both crossings and both directions.
  • Prepare your documents: passport, and the SG Arrival Card if you are a visitor entering Singapore, or the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card if you are a foreign visitor entering Malaysia (Singaporeans are exempt).
  • Set up a QR code in the MyICA app to clear Singapore immigration faster.
  • Drivers: check your VEP, Autopass or Touch 'n Go, and fuel (Singapore cars need three-quarters of a tank to leave).

Common questions

Which is faster, Woodlands or Tuas?

Woodlands is closer for most people and for JB city centre, but it is busier. Tuas often moves faster at peak times. Compare both live scores before you leave.

When is the Causeway least jammed?

Usually weekdays from about 10am to 4pm. The worst times are weekday mornings into Singapore and weekday evenings in both directions. See our hour-by-hour chart on the best time to cross page.

Which buses go from Singapore to JB?

Over the Causeway: 170 and CW2 from Queen Street, 170X and CW1 from Kranji MRT, 950 from Woodlands Interchange and CW5 from Newton. Over the Second Link: CW3, CW6 and CW7 from Jurong Town Hall, Boon Lay and Tuas Link. Check the operator for current timings.

Do I need an arrival card?

Visitors entering Singapore who are not citizens, permanent residents or long-term pass holders need the SG Arrival Card. Most foreign visitors entering Malaysia need the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card, but Singapore citizens are exempt.

Can I use a QR code instead of my passport?

At Singapore immigration at Woodlands and Tuas, yes, for cars, motorcycles, lorries and buses, using the MyICA app. You still need your passport for Malaysian immigration, and first-time visitors to Singapore must use their passport.

What is the 6 October 2026 VEP rule?

From 6 October 2026, travellers in a foreign-registered car cannot submit the SG Arrival Card unless the car has a valid Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP).

How does Got Jam? know how jammed it is?

We read public posts from commuters in Telegram and Facebook groups, reports from our users, and LTA bus data, and turn them into a 0 to 100 score. See how the score works.

Is Got Jam? free?

Yes, completely free, with no account needed. It is an independent project and not linked to any government agency.
